The Terrarium - Green Tree Frog Habitat
Striving for a quality terrarium increases the longevity of the green tree frog as well as its quality of life. For this we are going to look for a terrarium that has enough space for our new pet to climb and exercise daily.
It is important to take this factor into account because if the frog has too little space it can increase its predisposition to obesity. The terrarium must be a space of at least 1 meter long x 45 centimeters high and 75 centimeters wide
Terrarium setting
When decorating the terrarium of the green tree frog we must pay attention to recreating its natural environment as much as possible.
We will fill the terrarium floor with gravel with a minimum thickness of at least 3 centimeters. There are also other materials that you will easily find in any store dedicated to pets.
Moss is a good option to add to the terrarium since the frog will feel comfortable and it is an element that accumulates moisture, ideal for this particular frog.
Finally we will add plants and some decorative motif if we feel like it. We recommend that you use good quality artificial plants to avoid excessive maintenance and eating.
Required temperature and humidity for the green tree frog
The temperature and humidity are the two factors that ensure the survival of the green tree frog. Maintaining adequate constants will allow us to have a he althy and long-lived specimen as far as possible.
For this it is essential that we set the temperature between 23ºC and 27ºC during the day and 19ºC at night, effectively simulating the natural environment of the green tree frog. The ideal humidity is 80 degrees whenever it is a glass terrarium as it helps maintain and fix stability.
Other elements of the terrarium
In addition to what was mentioned above we will have to provide water to our green tree frog in a bowl, for this it will be enough to use a depth of 5 centimeters of water to prevent drowning. Never use water with chlorine.
The green tree frog eats live insects for this reason it will not need any type of container for it, it will be enough that you offer it its quantities (3 - 4 crickets) per day and that's it!
