Origin of evil-shi

The mal-shi or malshi is also known by other names such as M altese tzu or shih mal. He is considered a mestizo dog, a hybrid breed, so he does not have an official standard and, therefore, he cannot participate in official competitions

Like other hybrid dog breeds, the place and time of appearance of the first mal-shi specimens is unknown. What can be stated with complete certainty is that the mal-shi comes from the crossing of two pure breeds, the shih tzu and the M altese bichon Although its exact origin is not known, it is suspected that it may have appeared due to the desire to obtain a dog in which the characteristics of both parent breeds are present.

Characteristics of evil-shi

Despite the certain observable variability between different specimens of mal-shi, there are some medium ranges in which almost all of them are found. Generally, an adult Malshi dog has a body weight between between 2.3 and 6.8 kilograms, with a height at the withers of between 25 and 50 centimeters. Due to the small size of the parents, the mal-shi is a small breed puppy, whose average life expectancy is about 14-15 years.

The mal-shi's body is compact, with short legs and thick fur. Its head resembles that of the shih tzu, being slightly narrower, with a marked stop that ends in a black, triangular nose. The ears, set high, hang down to the height of this stop. His eyes are incredibly sweet and expressive, presenting a dark color and a rounded shape. As for the facial fur, it usually has a very thick mustache, with longer hair than the rest of the face.

One of the most special physical characteristics of the mal-shi is their fur. This is usually of moderate length, glossy, extremely soft and wavy, especially on its face, flanks and tail, which looks like a tall, curved feather duster. It has a two-layer structure, with a woolly underlayer that allows it to have better insulation against the cold. In addition, the characteristics of its coat mean that it is considered a hypoallergenic dog.

Colors of evil-shi

Normally, the coat colors on a mal-shi are solid and the most common would be: brown, black and white. However, there are also specimens with two colors, in which the coat pattern is speckled or spotted.

The evil-shi pup

If any puppy tends to be restless and playful, the mal-shi is multiplied by two or even by three. They are dogs that from their earliest childhood show a brutal curiosity for everything around them, playing and jumping nonstop and exploring wherever they go.

From a young age They are sociable and affectionate, but to ensure a good adaptation to the family, especially to other dogs or animals, it is advisable perform early socialization, starting with it as soon as possible. Thus, we will get a dog that is really open and flexible to changes and in terms of coexistence with others.

Character of evil-shi

Tender and affectionate, this is how the character of the malshi is usually defined by all those who have met this puppy, even if it has been for a few moments. And it is not false at all, because the mal-shi is one of the most attentive and affectionate dogs that exist. They are truly family dogs, who enjoy the company of their human and animal family like no one else. They adapt well to life in flats and houses, as long as they have company the place will not be very important.

The mal-shi is also an incredibly sociable dog, quickly establishing contact with people and animals. He does not hesitate to approach even strangers, seeking their attention and affection. Oh, and of course, a little game never hurts for them.

Because he is such a playfuldog, he loves having toys everywhere, something we recommend to avoid getting bored and end up doing unwanted pranks for it. There are multiple types of games, some games also stimulate your intellect, being very beneficial.

Care for evil-shi

If we have or want to have a bad-shi as a partner, there are a number of aspects to which we must pay attention so that it is in the best conditions. One of the basic pillars of our dog's well-being is, without a doubt, his diet, since it must be adjusted to his nutritional needs, providing him with the appropriate amount of energy to maintain your joy and vitality. Regarding this point, it is recommended to consult with our veterinarian about the type of feeding, the frequency and quantity of the shots, since this has to be adjusted to the life of each specific animal. This is important, since there are more sedentary animals and others more active, they may have different requirements associated with age, diseases…

As for the maintenance of his beautiful coat, the mal-shi needs you to brush his coat at least 3-4 times per week. This is the only way to prevent dirt and dead hair from accumulating, also avoiding knots and tangles. In addition, this ensures that during walks or outings, external parasites, such as fleas or ticks, have not adhered to the animal's hair. Baths can be given approximately every two months, while peeling is totally optional. Of course, it is not recommended to shave the dog.

Finally, within the care of the malshi we highlight the importance of environmental enrichment As we said before, they are very playful dogs that need to be kept properly stimulated at all times. For this reason, and especially when they are alone at home, it is essential to leave toys, such as food dispensers or intelligence toys, to keep them entertained. Likewise, the daily exercise is something that every dog should receive. Being such an active dog, it will be necessary for it to walk 2 to 3 times a day, interspersing calm walks with games and activities.

Education of evil-shi

The mal-shi, as we have already said, are affectionate and sweet dogs, but this does not mean that their training can be neglected. As with almost any other dog, if basic training guidelines are not followed, the mal-shi can become a moody and high-strung dog.

As a training technique, it is recommended to use those based on positive reinforcement, since they have demonstrated high efficiency and are easy to perform. In short, it consists of rewarding the animal when it does something right and not rewarding it if it does something wrong. In this way, it is possible to educate him without resorting to aggressive techniques that are totally inadvisable due to their harmfulness and ineffectiveness, such as choke collars, insults, aggression or punishment.

Despite the fact that it is recommended to start socializing them and teaching them basic guidelines as soon as possible, it is necessary to wait until the animal is somewhat more mature to begin with more complex training. Specifically, it is recommended to wait until 6 months of life to start learning specific and more complicated guidelines. At this time, it is recommended to perform the training regularly, several times a week and maintaining patience and perseverance.

He alth from evil-shi

In general, mestizo dogs have a lower rate of suffering from congenital diseases than pure breeds. In this case, in the mal-shi it is clearly observed that, while the shih tzu and the M altese bichon have a series of associated congenital diseases, being a cross breed, the index drops drastically, having a much stronger he alth than either. of the other two races. Despite this, this aspect must not be neglected, the veterinarian must be seen regularly, performing the vaccinations and dewormingand it is advisable to carry out regular general check-ups. This way we will know the state of he alth of our colleague and we will be able to act as soon as possible in the event of any anomaly.

Some of the most common diseases of mal-shi are patella dislocations, inherited from the M altese bichon, for this reason it is recommended to include radiological diagnosis in periodic reviews.
