On the market there are suitable shampoos for this type of canine; but very often they are very expensive. For this reason, in this article on our site we will give you the formulas to make some homemade shampoo for allergic dogs, simple and cheap.

Shampoo Base
When making the following formulas to make shampoos suitable for allergic dogs, the first step is to make a basic baking soda shampoo.
Sodium bicarbonate is a very bactericidal and deodorant element; For this reason, it is frequently used to clean the interior of refrigerators. It is also used in toothpastes. However, for dogs it can become toxic if it is abused, or it is not rinsed well after treatment. The formula is as follows:
- 250 gr of sodium bicarbonate. If we buy it at the supermarket it is cheaper than at the pharmacy.
- 1 liter of water. Emulsify the two products very well and store in a bottle protected from light.
This solution will be mixed at the appropriate time with the selected vegetable product with antiallergic properties.
Oatmeal shampoo
The oatmeal shampoo is very soothing and easy to make. Follow the next steps:
- Pulverize 100 g of wholemeal oat flakes with a blender until it turns into flour, or buy oatmeal directly.
- In a container, mix the oatmeal with half a liter of bicarbonate-based shampoo (previously shake the jar or bottle where you kept the shampoo).
- Beat and emulsify the oatmeal with the base shampoo.
- The oatmeal shampoo will be ready for the dog's bath.
A half liter of oatmeal shampoo is more than enough to bathe a large dog. If the dog is small, divide the amount. Throw away the remaining amount.
During the summer the shampoo can be used at room temperature. In the winter you can warm the mixture before applying it.
After soaking the dog, apply the oatmeal shampoo, rubbing his skin well. Do not apply to eyes or genitals. Leave to act for 4 or 5 minutes and rinse the shampoo very well so that there are no bicarbonate residues on the dog's epidermis. Dry the dog well.
Aloe vera shampoo
The aloe vera shampoo is very purifying and easy to make. Follow the instructions below:
- Mix half a liter of basic bicarbonate shampoo with a teaspoon of aloe vera essential oil in a mixing glass.
- Beat well until the mixture is emulsified.
- Follow the bathing method from the previous chapter, applying the aloe vera shampoo instead of the oatmeal shampoo.
Discard the remainder. Proportionally decrease the amount in small dogs.
Honey and vinegar shampoo
The honey and vinegar shampoo is very nourishing and disinfectant for the skin. To make it, follow these guidelines:
- Pour half a liter of basic bicarbonate shampoo, a teaspoon of honey and a glass of apple cider vinegar into a container.
- Beat and emulsify the mixture well.
- Apply in the same way as in the previous points.
You have to rinse the dog very well after bathing, because honey is sticky. This shampoo is not recommended for long-haired dogs.
Remember to divide the amount if the dog is small. The leftover mixture must be discarded.
The importance of rinsing and drying
The final rinse of the shampoos is of capital importance. There should be no bicarbonate residues on the dog's epidermis. Well, it could irritate the dog's skin if after thoroughly disinfecting it during the bath.
It is also very important to dry the dog well, except if it is a Spanish or Portuguese water dog; dogs that must dry themselves.
